Recognised as one of the best stage directors in Italy, Maurizio di Mattia was appointed as the Principal Stage Director of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in 1985.

His Production of La Bohème marked the highlight of Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago in 2011. He was also the Artistic Director of the lyrical season in Teramo. Being an opera promoter in Asia, he works well with both European and Asian artists on stage, bringing outstanding productions to cities including Tokyo, Nara, Seoul, Daegu, New Delhi, Mumbai, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Taipei and Macau. He enjoys a close collaboration with Opera Hong Kong stage directing La Traviata, Le nozze di Figaro, Aïda, Othello and La Bohème. Apart from stage direction, he is active in writing critics, organising Festivals and casting auditions in Asia.
